Ben’s Chinese and Vietnamese Restaurant, Brisbane
Do I venture to say a Brisbane institution… This chinese/vietnamese restaurant on Annerley Rd, Woolloongabba has had a small facelift recently. The large dining area has little atmostphere, and the staff are lacking in service abilities HOWEVER, having said that the food is great with a wide variety of both chinese and traditional vietnamese dishes to chose from.
The last couple of visits by the author were rushed, pre-AFL outings, luckily the speed of food service is among the best. Though that is possibly due to the nature of cooking chinese food, fast and fresh. The food was, and is always, full of flavour. From a new staple of salt and pepper squid, old favourite sweet and sour pork to a bowl of steaming noodle soup - all are fresh, hot and tasty. Dishes are well portioned too.
On friday and saturday nights it’s advisable to book, these are quite busy nights AND they host Karaoke…should you get drunk enough!! Speaking of which BYO bottled wine, however beer and basic spirits are available.
