A pre-movie dinner at this Mt Gravatt asian restaurant hit the mark! Situated in the al fresco dining area of Garden City shopping centre, a mix of asian flavours is on offer. Thai, Chinese and Malaysian meals graced the abundant menu.
My companion and I were a little confused as to whether we should seat ourselves, wait to be seated or order at the bar. A young, pleasant waitress eventually came to our aid and advised us to seat ourselves and that they would take our order. After this initial hiccup, prompt and attentive service was provided to us. Maybe a little too attentive…
Plenty of options on the menu from each region, some photos to help the uninitiated. My companion chose the beef stir fry with cashews, coconut rice and I opted for the all-time favourite, Pad Thai with seafood. As one usually expects with Asian eateries the food was quick to be served, hot and fresh! My seafood Pad Thai actually seemed to have fresh seafood…a curiousity! Both dishes bursting with flavour and well presented.
A curiosity: some pre-dinner drinks were ordered. A cab merlot for my friend and a cab sauv for myself. Our waitress, clearly not a wine drinker, asked if I wanted the white or red cab sauv…eek! Clearly not a fine dining venue, but then it isn’t presented as one either.
All, in all, a pleasant venue. Good range of tasty food and thirst-quenching drinks, with decent, friendly service. For a casual meal pre- or post- cinema, definitely give it a go!
