On a recent trip to country Victoria, trawling the highways and byways for wineries, we stumbled across this well established, family run vineyard, Tahbilk.
With a wide range of both red and white wines, their cellar doors sales is situated in a old, rustic barn. Inside is also a small museum of the Tahbilk wineries history. Seemingly, the jewel in their crown is the Marsanne.
A display of bottles of this white wine, from many vintages ago to the most recent, is located in the middle of this shed, the honeyed hues developing over many years of cellaring.
A very drinkable, mellow white wine, has a slight dryness and a slight fruitiness to please all palates from the seasoned white wine fan to the newly inducted drinker.
Not being one to sense hints of this fruit or that wood, all I know is this is an unassuming wine, that doesn’t have overpowering flavours or acid dryness and of course, is best served chilled.
